For U.S. customers

U.S. Customers: Duty-Free Shipping Under USMCA

We regularly ship our handcrafted mantels, lighting fixtures, furniture, and décor throughout the United States, and our qualifying Canadian-made products are shipped with complete and accurate USMCA documentation to support duty-free entry.

Despite recent political noise around trade, the USMCA agreement remains in force. The agreement entered into effect on July 1, 2020, and is structured to remain in place through 2036 unless it is extended, changed, or a country formally withdraws. Even if a country decides to withdraw, it must provide written notice, and withdrawal does not take effect for six months.

That means nothing has suddenly changed overnight. USMCA is still active, and qualifying Canadian-made goods continue to be eligible for duty-free treatment when properly processed.

Our common product classifications include:

Fireplace mantels: HTS 4420.90, decorative, non-structural articles of wood
Chandeliers and lighting fixtures: HTS 9405
Furniture items such as tables and benches: HTS 9403

Our products are proudly made in Canada, and we provide the required documentation for qualifying goods. Most shipments clear customs smoothly and duty-free.

As with any international shipment, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has final authority to review and classify imported goods at the port of entry. In rare cases, a carrier, customs broker, or customs officer may apply a different classification or tariff treatment, which can result in duties, taxes, tariffs, brokerage fees, or other import-related charges. If this occurs, importers may be able to challenge the classification or tariff treatment and request a correction, cancellation, or refund of improperly assessed charges through the carrier, broker, or applicable customs process.

We do everything required on our end to help your shipment clear properly. Any import-related charges assessed after shipment are determined by U.S. authorities, carriers, or customs brokers and remain the responsibility of the importer.

If you have questions before ordering, we are always happy to help. When you contact our shop, you’ll speak with a real person, most often Alan, who can answer your questions directly.
